Dave is a graduate of West Virginia University receiving a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in public health. After working for the West Virginia Department of Health for two years, he and his wife moved to South Carolina in 1988 to begin a career as District Director of Health Education, SC-DHEC in Orangeburg, SC. After eight years with DHEC, Dave expanded his health education skills by working for the Family Health Center, a Federally Qualified Health Center located in Orangeburg for four years. Dave worked for Hope-Health Inc in Orangeburg as a health educator/case manager for three years before beginning his own non-profit, Health Education Consultants, Inc. in 2004. Health Education Consultants, Inc has a mission to provide health education in South Carolina’s Free Health Clinics with an emphasis on chronic disease prevention including diabetes, hypertension, obesity, elevated cholesterols, and lung disease due to cigarette smoking. Health Education Consultants, Inc. has been active in the Orangeburg-Calhoun Free Medical Clinic, the Columbia Free Medical Clinic, the Newberry Free Medical Clinic, and the Good Samaritan Free Clinic. Dave lives in the Harbison area of Columbia and has one daughter, age 36, who is a graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Public Health and one son, age 31 who is about to graduate from Midlands Technical College an Dave is a graduate of West Virginia University receiving a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a master’s Degree in Public Health d transfer to the University of South Carolina.
